A look at the top 10 high school programs in the Southland
1. Corona del Mar (SS-Pacific Coast): Mike March, 62 goals and 41 steals last season, is arguably the best goal scorer in Southern California.
2. Anaheim Servite (SS-Serra): Senior Vincent Bevins teams with sophomore Adam Hewko for a potent one-two combination.
3. Lake Forest El Toro (SS-South Coast): Goalkeeper Jeremy Randall has improved significantly. Danny Pierson is a big-game scorer.
4. Santa Ana Foothill (SS-Century): The Knights have one of the top defenses in the region, led by All-American goalkeeper Ian Elliott.
5. San Clemente (SS-South Coast): Logan Powell spent summer with U.S. national youth team, touring Yugoslavia, Romania and Greece.
6. Long Beach Wilson (SS-Moore): Wilson’s four-year reign as Division I champion ended in a semifinal loss last season.
7. Laguna Beach (SS-Pacific Coast): Mark Oct. 17 on the calendar. That’s when Artists play at Corona del Mar.
8. Villa Park (SS-Century): Ross Pulver is among Southern California’s best defensive players.
9. North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake (SS-Mission): Junior Travis Warner will have to carry the load for Coach Rich Corso.
10. Huntington Beach Edison (SS-Sunset): All of the Chargers’ key players return, including junior Cody Teague.
