The cross-country programs at Palos Verdes Peninsula and Fountain Valley highs have been penalized for holding an illegal practice meet on Sept. 4, two days before the Southern Section rules allowed.
As a result, the practice meet will count as one of 11 meets that each school is allowed before iits league championships.
“We had no idea we were doing anything wrong,” said Coach Barry Migliorini of Fountain Valley. “When we discovered that we had violated the rules, we immediately reported it to the [Southern Section] office.”
