Segway Saga
I read with interest the story of the Segway, the electrically powered vehicle with speeds up to 12 mph, that is coming to our sidewalks soon (Dec. 9). Despite the fact that nobody has seen how these machines and pedestrians will interact on busy city streets, they have been legalized in 32 states (including California). Have our politicians totally lost their senses, or has it been that long since they’ve walked down a city sidewalk? Or is it possible they have nothing better to concern themselves with? Just wait until the accidents start and the liability lawyers get involved; that should be a real walk (ride?) in the park.
