A masked gunman burst into a Newport Beach bank Saturday afternoon, put a gun to a customer’s head and ordered tellers to fill a bag with cash, police said.

No shots were fired in the 1:30 p.m. holdup at the Union Bank of California on Westcliff Drive, said Newport Beach Police Lt. Mike Jackson. The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Jackson said the robber grabbed a woman about to leave the bank and walked her over to the first teller’s window at gunpoint. The robber threw a large bag on the counter and ordered the teller to fill it and pass it to the next teller.
