Noteworthy: The run-oriented Spartans are led by tailback Maurice Drew, who scored all four of the team’s touchdowns last season against Poly and is averaging 112 yards rushing per game. Option quarterback Britt Cecil has completed only 45% of his passes and hasn’t thrown for a touchdown but has big-time targets in receivers Cameron Colvin (six catches, 188 yards) and De’Montae Fitzgerald (five catches, 106 yards). Poly has a balanced offense. Quarterback Leon Jackson has completed 61% of his passes for 889 yards and 11 touchdowns with no interceptions. Lorenzo Bursey (234 yards, four touchdowns) leads the running backs and Derrick Jones is a big-play threat as a receiver and kickoff returner.
