Girl, 10, Dies in Freeway Crash
A 10-year-old girl died Wednesday after the sport utility vehicle she was riding in collided with another vehicle and overturned on the Riverside Freeway in Fullerton.
Authorities were not releasing the girl’s name pending notification of relatives.
Officer Mark Reeves of the California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes just east of the Santa Ana Freeway in Fullerton. The girl was riding in an SUV driven by her mother, he said, when it collided with a car going the same direction and overturned.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene, Reeves said, and her mother was taken to a hospital for observation. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
The accident remains under investigation, he said.
