Steven Jackson helped Oregon State get payback for its embarrassing loss to Fresno State last year, running for 227 yards and two touchdowns to help the Beavers to a 59-19 victory on Saturday.

Derek Anderson had 214 yards passing and three touchdowns for the Beavers (4-0), who were defeated by the Bulldogs, 44-24, last year in Fresno, starting a slide to a 5-6 season.

The Beavers had three interceptions, giving them a nation-best 11. Oregon State returned two of the interceptions for touchdowns.

The Bulldogs (1-3) got four first-half field goals from Asen Asparuhov, including a career-best 52-yarder, but little else as the Beavers charged to a 31-12 halftime lead.

Oregon State extended the lead to 59-12 before backup Paul Pinegar passed three yards to Stephen Spanch for a Bulldog score late in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs were without touted receiver Bernard Berrian, who sprained his knee in the opener against Wisconsin and hasn’t played since.

The Bulldogs were coming off a bye. They had been 5-0 under Coach Pat Hill after byes.
