High School All-Star Games Scheduled for TV

Two all-star football games will be televised live this weekend.

The CaliFlorida Bowl IV, which pits top players from California against those from Florida, begins at 11 a.m. today at Mt. San Antonio College. It will be shown by Fox Sports Net 2.

Tickets will be available at the gate for $12.

The third U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which features 78 of the top high school players from around the country, begins at 4 p.m. (Pacific time) Sunday at the Alamodome in San Antonio. It will be shown by ESPN2.

Among the 54 California high school players participating in the CaliFlorida Bowl are linebackers Drean Rucker of Moreno Valley Canyon Springs and Michael Okwo of Manhattan Beach Mira Costa, defensive backs Dennis Keyes of Lake Balboa Birmingham, A.J. Tuitele of Wilmington Banning and Desmond Reed of Temple City, wide receivers B.J. Vickers of Venice and Mark Bradford of L.A. Fremont, defensive linemen Lawrence Jackson of Inglewood, Sedrick Ellis of Chino, Junior Lemau’u of Long Beach Poly and Brandon Mebane of L.A. Crenshaw, and quarterback Richard Irvin of Pasadena Muir.

Southland players participating in the All-American Bowl are wide receivers Whitney Lewis of Ventura St. Bonaventure and Steve Smith of Woodland Hills Taft, tight end Chris Barrett and offensive guard Sam Baker of Tustin, offensive tackle Drew Radovich of Mission Viejo, defensive lineman Matthew Malele of Carson and defensive back Quintin Daniels of L.A. Loyola.

Norm Lacy has resigned as football coach at Santa Monica High.
