Ricardo Clark scored on a header in the 76th minute as the MetroStars scored three goals in a seven-minute span to tie the New England Revolution, 3-3, on Saturday in front of 33,652 at Foxboro, Mass.

MetroStar goalkeeper Tim Howard made 11 saves, and off the field received his English work permit, clearing the way for his transfer to Manchester United.

Howard, who played all three games for the United States at last month’s Confederations Cup in France, planned to fly to England today, take his physical Monday and then sign a contract with the English Premier League champion.

“It’s great for me,” Howard said after the game. “I just need to get better and work harder. If I get to start some games, that’s great. If I’m a reserve in some games, that’s great.”

Howard said Manchester United Coach Sir Alex Ferguson called him Friday with the news.

“I was so happy. It’s been a long time, and I feel so fortunate,” Howard said. “Not many people get the opportunity that’s been given to me. I feel blessed.”

The MetroStars (7-4-4), down 3-0 after Pat Noonan scored for New England in the 50th minute, began the comeback on John Wolniec’s 69th-minute goal.

New England (5-3-6) was charged with an own goal in the 72nd minute when goalkeeper Adin Brown’s clearing attempt deflected off Revolution defender Daouda Kante and into the net.
