Allyson Felix, Los Angeles Baptist, Sr. 100, 200 meters

FIRST TEAM

Jasmine Lee, Long Beach Poly, Jr. 400: Won state, Southern Section Masters Meet and Southern Section Division I titles. Ran a school-record 52.85 seconds in winning Division I title.

Ashley Freeman, Long Beach Wilson, Sr. 800: Stanford signee won state title in 2:08.73 after winning Masters Meet in school-record 2:08.49 and Southern Section Division I final in 2:08.86. No other runner in the state broke 2:10 this season.

Alison Costello, Esperanza, Sr. 1,600, 3,200: UCLA signee placed third in 1,600 in state championships in career-best 4:53.74 after winning 1,600 and 3,200 in Division I finals and Masters Meet.

Ashlee Brown, Riverside North, Sr. 100 High Hurdles: Penn State signee won state championship in career-best 13.58 after winning Southern Section Division II and Masters Meet titles. The 13.58 clocking ranks sixth on all-time state performer list.

MacKenzie Hill, Long Beach Wilson, Sr. 300 Intermediate Hurdles: UCLA signee was yet another Southland athlete who swept state, Masters Meet and Southern Section Division I titles. Ran career-best 41.31 in state final to move to seventh on all-time state list.

Long Beach Poly, 400 relay: (Shana Solomon, So.; Jasmine Lee, Jr.; Chanda Picott; Jr., Shalonda Solomon, Jr.) Won state, Masters meet and Southern Section Division I titles and best time of 44.90 is tied for third on all-time national list.

Long Beach Poly. 1,600 relay: (Shantae McKinney, Sr.; Jasmine Lee, Jr.; Shana Woods, Fr.; Shalonda Solomon, Jr.) Set national record of 3:35.55 in Penn Relays in April and won state title in 3:35.78 -- third-fastest time in history by a U.S. high school team.

Sharon Day, Costa Mesa, Sr. High Jump: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo signee won second consecutive state title and moved into tie for ninth on all-time national list when she cleared Southern Section record 6 feet 2 inches in Trabuco Hills Invitational in April.

Cara Walker, Marina, Sr. Pole Vault: Placed second in state championships and Masters Meet and won Southern Section Division I title. Has a best of 12-8.

Lena Bettis, Riverside North, Sr. Long Jump: Penn State signee placed second in state championships after finishing third in Southern Section Division II final and fourth in Masters meet. Had season best of 19-4.

Michelle Sanford, Woodbridge, Sr. Triple Jump: USC signee was sidelined by injuries during middle portion of season, but returned to win Southern Section Division II and Masters Meet titles and place second in state championships with a season-best 42-2.

Billie Jo Grant, Arroyo Grande, Sr. Shotput, Discus: Arizona signee won second consecutive discus title in state championships and placed second in shotput. Her best of 183-6 in discus ranks fifth on all-time national performer list and her best of 50-4 in shotput ranks seventh on all-time state list.

Coaching Staff of the Year: Birmingham: (Head coach: Scott King. Assistants: Kertic Carruth, Matthew McClanahan, Robert Mooney, Ron Shirley, Joel Thornburgh) Patriots scored a record 125 points in City Section championships to win their second title in three years.
