From Times Wire Reports
City officials say they are one step closer to owning the Ahearn Ranch, a 610-acre site on the east and west sides of U.S. Highway 101.
On Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives approved $1.5 million in federal funds toward the land purchase. Officials anticipate raising $1.2 million from private, local and state sources to buy the $2.7-million property.
“This is a great boost for land conservation in San Luis Obispo County and for the city of San Luis Obispo’s open space programs,” Mayor Dave Romero said.
