Los Angeles Dorsey’s defense continued to wreak havoc on opponents as the Dons held host Chino to 124 yards in a 26-10 intersectional victory Thursday night.

For the Dons (5-0), who have held opponents to an average of six points a game, the victory was another step in gaining respect for the program and City Section teams.

“Our kids took it as a challenge,” Dorsey Coach Paul Knox said.

“Many people think City football [teams] can’t compete with Southern Section teams. Our kids took a cue from Venice beating Loyola.”

Dorsey’s running game was as impressive as its defense. Jeremiah Johnson rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns in 14 carries and Stafon Johnson gained 115 yards in 16 carries.

Jeremiah Johnson set the stage on the first play from scrimmage, bouncing outside and racing 80 yards for a touchdown 13 seconds into the game. He also had a 31-yard scoring run that gave Dorsey a 26-10 lead with 2:33 left in the third quarter.

Chino (3-2) was playing without leading rusher R.J. Stanford, who broke his shoulder in practice. The Cowboys got 110 yards rushing in 15 carries from Shawn Oatis, who scored their only touchdown on an eight-yard run to cap the first drive of the second half.

Dorsey quarterback Donald Prince completed six of 15 passes for 78 yards, with touchdown passes to Albert Russell and Phillip Perry.

La Palma Kennedy 28, Rancho Santa Margarita Tesoro 13 -- The Fighting Irish regained their momentum on special teams and didn’t let go in the second half en route to the nonleague victory at Anaheim Western High.

Kennedy (4-1) was stopped on fourth and goal at the one on its opening drive of the game and later could not stop Tesoro (3-2) on a 17-play, 98-yard drive that took eight minutes off the clock and gave the Titans a 6-0 lead.

But Kennedy’s Bryan Pepperdine blocked a punt late in the second quarter and Ryan Griffin returned it 12 yards to the Tesoro five. Two plays later, wide receiver Tanner Elliott took a snap from center and scored on a six-yard run to help establish a 7-6 lead.

The Fighting Irish then scored on their first three drives of the second half, two on touchdown passes from Robert Becker.
