Sailboat Aground; Man Is Charged
From Times Wire Reports
A Mission Viejo man was charged Saturday with driving under the influence after the sailboat he was piloting ran aground in Dana Point, authorities said.
Responding to a 9:30 p.m. call Friday, Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies said they found a 22-foot sailboat beached at Dana Strand.
Dean Smith, 56, was treated for hypothermia and charged with DUI, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino. Smith apparently was alone in the boat.
