Supervisors to Ease Home Pool Restrictions

From Times Staff Reports

The Orange County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to eliminate some of the state’s toughest restrictions regarding home pool and spa safety.

In January 2003, the board passed new county planning guidelines that would have required homeowners to install fencing around swimming pools as a condition of any sale. The swimming pool industry said the ordinance did not square with state standards and requested that the board reverse it.

Officials with real estate and pool organizations said they would help create a new policy for the board to consider.
