El Toro Parcel Bids Are Up to $443.5 Million

Bidding continued Monday on two remaining parcels of land at the closed El Toro Marine base, extending the auction for at least another day.
The two parcels make up about 2,600 acres of the 3,700-acre former military airfield slated for redevelopment as a complex of homes, businesses and parks. Bids for the two parcels totaled $443.5 million as of late Monday, $103.5 million more than the starting bids.
Homebuilder Lennar Corp., which won the other two parcels for minimum bids, was the highest bidder.
