Championship Division

Chatsworth (24-4) vs. Harbor City Narbonne (20-8), 7 p.m. at the Forum

Since losing three in a row at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions -- to Southern Section Division II-A finalists Brea Olinda and Redondo, and a top team from Arizona -- top-seeded Chatsworth has won 13 in a row. Second-seeded Narbonne, playing in its eighth final in nine years, figures to be a much heftier challenge after failing last year in its quest for an unprecedented fifth consecutive City title. Chatsworth is led by Krystle Mays (13.7 points and 8.4 rebounds) and Alisha Bryant (11.2 points and 6.6 rebounds). Narbonne, is led by the play of Morghan Medlock (19 points) and Sherriel Boyd (17 points).

SOUTHERN SECTION

Division I-A

Moreno Valley Canyon Springs (27-3) vs. Ventura (27-3), 6:45 p.m. at Azusa Pacific

Top-seeded Canyon Springs is averaging 71.3 points, with four players averaging in double figures, including Brandi Jones-Fitzgerald (18.9 points, 8.7 rebounds) and Jennifer Risper (14.6 points, 4.8 assists). But it wasn’t enough against Ventura in a 67-59 loss in an Arizona tournament game Dec. 22. Canyon Springs has won 22 in a row since. Fourth-seeded Ventura is one of the tallest teams in the Southland. Kali Bennett (17.9 points, 10.6 rebounds), a 6-foot-5 sophomore, has been a handful for every opponent, and 6-3 junior Caitlin Kearns (8.8 points, 6.2 rebounds) helps keep defenders honest. Key to the game may be the ball-handling of Caitlin O’Neill (11.3 points, 4.3 assists), because last time they played, point guard Gloria Jauregui had not yet suffered her season-ending knee injury.

Division II-AA

Fullerton Troy (28-2) vs. Perris (24-7), 8:30 p.m. at Azusa Pacific

Top-seeded Troy is in the finals for the seventh time in eight years and is trying to win its fourth consecutive title behind point guard Sara Yee and its post players, twins Rheya and Rhaya Neabors. The Warriors beat third-seeded Perris in last year’s quarterfinal, 62-59, though Perris’ leading player, Tay Hester, picked up three fouls in the first quarter. Troy blew out the Panthers in the 2003 title game, 82-45, despite Hester’s 20 points. Hester is back for a last chance, along with junior Brandie McCann.

Division III-AA

Santa Margarita (21-6) vs. Inglewood Morningside (24-6), 5 p.m. at Azusa Pacific

Both teams are in the finals for the second time in three years. Behind the play of Whitney Wood (13.7 points) and Brittany Taylor (12.7 points), top-seeded Santa Margarita is trying to win its first title. It won’t be easy, because third-seeded Morningside is the defending champion and has the Southland’s top rebounder in Twila Stokes (15 points, 15.2 rebounds) and three-point ace Sonia Miller (11.9 points, 56 three-pointers).

Division III-A

La Puente Bishop Amat (30-0) vs. Torrance Bishop Montgomery (20-11), 12:30 p.m. at Azusa Pacific

The Del Rey League rivals are playing each other for the section title for the third time in four years. Top-seeded Bishop Amat, behind the play of Jessica Carrera, Juanise Cornell and Candice Brown is the section’s last unbeaten team. Bishop Montgomery, which is seeded 10th, appears to be in a zone after defeating third-seeded Pasadena Muir, 57-44, and second-seeded Fullerton Rosary, 41-37, on big games by Ashley Mayeaux.

Division IV-AA

L.A. Marlborough (22-5) vs. Santa Fe Springs St. Paul (23-9), 9 a.m. at Azusa Pacific

From the beginning of the season, this has been top-seeded Marlborough’s title to lose. The defending champion features Abi Olajuwon, the 6-foot-3 daughter of former NBA star Hakeem Olajuwon, and senior guard Emily Tay, who are complemented by junior Lindsay Louie and freshman Nikki Speed. Sixth-seeded St. Paul, which really has nothing to lose, hopes to counter that with toughness. The Swordsmen came in fourth in the Del Rey League, which includes Bishop Amat and Bishop Montgomery.

Division V-A

Santa Maria Valley Christian (21-5) vs. Huntington Beach Liberty Christian (18-6), 10:45 a.m. at Azusa Pacific

Defending champion Liberty Christian needed double-overtime to pull out its 52-49 semifinal victory over second-seeded Calimesa Mesa Grande, the team it beat to win last year’s title. Led by Susan Fleming (15.8 points), the third-seeded Minutemen must overcome the scoring tandem of Cynthia Regalado (22.7 points, 6.6 assists) and Lara Hertzog (18.4 points, 12.4 rebounds), who have top-seeded Valley Christian averaging 60 points a game -- 15 more than Liberty Christian.
