BOYS

Division I

Westchester (23-3) vs. L.A. Fairfax (26-5), 8 p.m., Sports Arena

Fairfax went deep into its bench against Etiwanda with positive results, including a team-high 16 points from freshman guard Chris Solomon in a 61-57 semifinal victory on Thursday. Jamal Boykin, Fairfax’s Duke-bound forward, will look to bounce back from a five-for-14 shooting performance against Etiwanda and lead the defending Division I state champions back to Sacramento. Boykin’s counterpart, Amir Johnson, is coming off a 10-for-11 performance in Westchester’s 63-43 semifinal victory over Fresno Clovis West. The top-seeded Comets have won eight in a row over their Western League rival.

Division II

Compton Dominguez (26-5) vs. Santa Ana Mater Dei (30-3), 4 p.m., Sports Arena

When Mater Dei defeated Dominguez, 91-88, in the final of the Huntington Beach Ocean View tournament last season, the game didn’t receive much fanfare because it was played the same night Newhall Hart upset Mission Viejo in the Southern Section Division II football final. That won’t be the case this time. Taylor King and Mike Gerrity have been solid all season, but the Monarchs have really begun to roll behind the improved play of senior guard Kyle Brown, who has scored in double figures in eight of the last nine games.

Division III

Lakewood Artesia (28-4) vs. San Diego St. Augustine (30-0), noon, Sports Arena

Artesia quickly got over its loss to Santa Margarita in the Southern Section Division III-AA final and is one victory away from returning to the state final for the first time since 1995. In 1992, Artesia lost to Glendora in the Division II-AA final, then went on to win the state title. St. Augustine, one of only two unbeaten teams in the state, is led by 6-foot-5 guard Andre Hardy, who averages 19.5 points, and 6-7 forward James Pinkney, who averages 17 points and eight rebounds.

Division IV

North Hollywood Campbell Hall (30-0) vs. Fresno San Joaquin Memorial (23-10), 7 p.m., Cal State Fullerton

Bakersfield Garces tried to push around top-seeded Campbell Hall in a semifinal Thursday, but that just increased the Vikings’ focus in an 80-45 victory. Joe Ford had a season-high 34 points and totaled 14 rebounds. Conor Turley, a 6-7 center, will have his hands full against San Joaquin Memorial’s Brook and Robin Lopez, 6-11 junior centers who have committed to Stanford, and 6-8 forward Quincy Poindexter.

Division V

L.A. Price (27-4) vs. San Luis Obispo Mission Prep (22-11), 3 p.m., Cal State Fullerton

Price can extend its record of consecutive state final appearances to six with a victory over the second-seeded Royals. The top-seeded Knights are coming off a 55-52 victory over Palos Verdes Estates Rolling Hills Prep, a team they had defeated by 37 points a month earlier. It was also Price’s closest game since a 63-61 loss to Campbell Hall on Feb. 5. Adrian Hernandez, a 6-3 junior guard, averages 15 points for Mission Prep.

Division I

Ventura (29-4) vs. Moreno Valley Canyon Springs (30-3), 6 p.m., Sports Arena

Ariane Hendrix-Roach’s three-point basket from the corner helped Ventura upset Harbor City Narbonne, 48-47, and her 35-footer at the buzzer stunned Long Beach Poly, 56-55. Kali Bennett (6-5), Caitlin Kearns (6-3) and the lone senior starter, guard Caitlin O’Neill, hope to avenge a 48-44 loss in the Division I-A championship a week ago, a game in which Bennett and Kearns were plagued by foul trouble. Brandi Jones-Fitzgerald, Jennifer Risper and Ebony Ward -- all of them capable of filling a highlight reel -- are going so well that Canyon Springs’ shoddy free-throw shooting hasn’t mattered. Neither team has ever gone this far in the playoffs, but both have beaten the other this season.

Division II

Fullerton Troy (31-2) vs. Spring Valley Mount Miguel (31-1), 2 p.m., Sports Arena

Troy figures to key on Mount Miguel junior guard Jerica Williams (5-9, 18.8 points) from the outset. The Warriors, Southern Section II-AA champions, have yet to allow more than 33 points in their seven playoff victories. Troy is receiving stellar play from junior twins Rheya and Rhaya Neabors (both 6-1) as it tries to reach the state final for the third consecutive year. Mount Miguel, the San Diego Section champion, has won 21 in a row.

Division III

La Puente Bishop Amat (33-0) vs. Torrance Bishop Montgomery (22-12), 10 a.m., Sports Arena

The Del Rey League rivals are facing each other for the fourth time. Bishop Amat won the first three, including a 46-39 victory in the Division III-A finals behind 6-2 sophomore Candice Brown’s 11 points and 12 rebounds and 5-10 junior Juanise Cornell’s 14 points. Bishop Montgomery can return to the state finals for the first time since Noelle Quinn led the team to four titles from 2000 to ’03. Senior Whitney Warren and junior Kendra Morris have had hot hands lately for Bishop Montgomery.

Division IV

La Jolla Country Day (24-6) vs. L.A. Brentwood (23-6), 5 p.m., Cal State Fullerton

Southern Section Division IV-A champion Brentwood is in the regional finals for the first time. San Diego Section Division champion La Jolla Country Day has been the Southern Regional champion the last four years behind Candice Wiggins, now at Stanford. Country Day has won 14 in a row and 19 of its last 20. Brentwood has won 11 in a row behind its unrelated guards, senior Brianne Brown and junior Tani Brown.

Division V

Palos Verdes Estates Rolling Hills Prep (21-7) vs. L.A. Pacific Hills (27-4), 1 p.m., Cal State Fullerton

After back-to-back Southern Section Division V-AA championships behind the play of Helen Suarez, Pacific Hills is trying to advance to its first state final under Coach Ben Ramos, who has announced he is leaving after two seasons. This is a rematch of the section final won by Pacific Hills, 40-39. Rolling Hills, led by Jasmine Watts and Raquel Theus, is also trying to reach its first state final.
