Officials Say Wildfire Almost Fully Contained
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The Riverside County wildfire that burned about 6,400 acres near San Timoteo Canyon was expected to be fully contained by Friday night, fire officials said.
Firefighters took advantage of light winds to stem the blaze, which started Wednesday near Moreno Valley and prompted authorities to close the Moreno Valley Freeway and evacuate about 100 homes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fighting it has cost nearly $1.4 million, fire officials said.
