Supervisors approve increase in living wage
In a 4-1 vote, supervisors Tuesday approved an increase in the “living wage” that county vendors pay employees.
With Supervisor Mike Antonovich opposed, the rest of the board agreed to raise the hourly pay of employees with health insurance from $8.32 to $9.64, and for those without health benefits from $9.46 to $11.84.
The motion by Supervisors Yvonne Brathwaite Burke and Gloria Molina will include an analysis of living-wage costs to the county.
Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky also was appointed chairman of the board Tuesday, replacing Antonovich in the yearlong rotating position.
