No. 6 Gonzaga Routs Pepperdine, 102-73

Adam Morrison scored 31 points and No. 6 Gonzaga beat Pepperdine, 102-73, on Saturday night for its 31st straight home victory.

J.P. Batista had 27 points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs, who improved to 13-3 overall and 3-0 in the West Coast Conference. Gonzaga beat Pepperdine for the ninth consecutive time.

Pepperdine (5-10, 1-2) got 19 points from Tashaan Forehan-Kelly. The Waves were undone by 15 turnovers and Gonzaga’s 55% shooting, including seven of 10 three-point attempts. Batista made 13 of 14 shots.

Gonzaga has won 13 straight conference games and nine of its last 10 overall. It was the third time the Bulldogs topped 100 points this season.

Morrison, a 6-foot-8 forward who leads the nation with an average of 28 points a game, made eight of 16 shots from the field and 14 of 17 from the free-throw line.

Gonzaga led 43-36 at halftime, and Derek Raivio scored their first seven points of the second half for a 50-38 lead. Raivio finished with 15 points.

Willie Galick’s basket brought Pepperdine to within 54-47. But Morrison scored 11 points during a 23-6 run that built a 77-53 lead for the Bulldogs. The Waves did not threaten again.

Galick finished with 13 points and Gregg Barlow 14 for Pepperdine, which shot 46%.

Gonzaga is tied with Illinois and Southern Illinois for longest home winning streak in the nation at 31.

Loyola Marymount 84, Portland 68 -- Wes Wardrop scored 25 points and Matthew Knight had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lions (6-11, 3-0) over the Pilots (7-10, 1-2) in a West Coast Conference game at Portland, Ore.

Wardrop, who entered the game shooting 36% from the field, made all eight of his shots, including five from the three-point range.

Loyola shot 56% in the first half to take a 43-30 lead at the break.

Pooh Jeter had 25 points for Portland.

Cal State Fullerton 90, UC Riverside 79 -- Senior forward Jamaal Brown scored 18 points to lead the Titans (9-5, 3-2) over the host Highlanders (2-13, 2-3) in a Big West Conference game.

Brown, who scored 16 points in the second half, also had six rebounds.

He was one of five players who had double-digit scoring for Fullerton. Bobby Brown scored 17 points, Justin Burns had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Jermaine Harper scored 14 and Vershan Cottrell had 12.

UC Riverside was led by Rickey Porter’s 21 points and a career-high 20 from guard Dedrick Bates.
