Crespi’s combined margin of victory against the trio was 55 points; Notre Dame’s was 49. The teams’ starting quarterbacks are also similarly impressive, with Notre Dame’s Ryan Kasdorf having passed for 2,081 yards and 22 touchdowns. “To win a game like this, your quarterback’s got to play well and the other guy maybe not as good,” said Crespi Coach Jeremiah Ross, who hopes quarterback Bryan Bennett can lead the Celts to a second consecutive victory over the Knights.

For a second consecutive year, both teams are undefeated heading into a showdown that will probably decide the Citrus Belt League champion. “It’s making for a really nice rivalry,” Miller Coach Jeff Steinberg said. It’s been a one-sided rivalry in recent years -- Miller hasn’t won since 2001, but the Rebels appear to be closing the gap, losing a 28-27 thriller last year. Miller features a dynamic offense with four regular ballcarriers, including the aptly named David Dash, and six receivers caught passes last week during a 31-7 victory over Redlands. Redlands East Valley quarterback Tyler Shreve is still recovering from a sprained ankle.

The pick: Miller.

No. 7 Orange Lutheran (6-1, 2-0) vs. No. 18 Anaheim Servite (4-3, 1-1)

Lutheran running back Exavier Edwards, severely limited the last three weeks by illness, “is getting a lot better” and should play a significant role in this key Trinity League game, Coach Jim Kunau said. His presence will boost an already loaded backfield that features running backs Garret Gilliland and Kyle Dravis. The Lancers have won their last five games by a combined 141-44 margin in part by limiting turnovers. After committing 11 turnovers in its first two games, Lutheran has averaged about one a game, Kunau said. Servite has won the first two meetings in the series since moving into the league.

The pick: Lutheran.

No. 10 La Puente Bishop Amat (6-1, 0-0) vs. Los Angeles Loyola (4-3, 0-0)

Loyola standout running back Anthony Barr is expected to return after being sidelined by a hip pointer last week in the first quarter of the Cubs’ 21-16 loss to Mission Hills Alemany. But quarterback Stephen Rokus is questionable after being hit in the back with a helmet against the Indians. Loyola Coach Jeff Kearin said the loss to Alemany on the eve of the Cubs’ Serra League opener “kind of calls everything into question. It was a big letdown on a lot of different levels.” Bishop Amat, led by running back Deshawn Gaisie and UCLA-bound defensive back Sheldon Price and linebacker Isaiah Bowens, has won six consecutive games.

The pick: Loyola.
