CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / SANTA ANA
A 67-year-old man was killed after a car veered off the road and struck him, authorities said Sunday.
Roger Peloquin of Willington, Conn., was walking on the sidewalk about 8 a.m. Saturday when a white Toyota Celica traveling north on Main Street went off the road near Garry Avenue and hit him and a light pole, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Pete Semelsberger said.
Peloquin was taken to Western Medical Center, where he died. No other injuries were reported.
“The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation,” Semelsberger said. “It does not appear that alcohol or drugs are a factor.”
