Millsap signs offer sheet with Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers signed restricted free-agent forward Paul Millsap to an offer sheet on Friday.

The Utah Jazz has seven days to match the offer.

The Trail Blazers said the terms of the offer were not disclosed because of team policy.

Millsap’s agent did not immediately respond to phone calls and e-mails seeking comment.

Millsap averaged 13.5 points for the Jazz last season, getting double-doubles in 19 straight games while starting for an injured Carlos Boozer, and has career averages of 9.4 points and 6.4 rebounds since the Jazz selected him with the No. 47 pick in the 2006 draft.

The Trail Blazers also exercised their option on Coach Nate McMillan’s contract, extending it through the 2010-11 season.

McMillan led the Trail Blazers to a 54-28 record last season and their first appearance in the playoffs since 2003. It was the sixth-best record in franchise history.

Magic to sign Bass

Brandon Bass is going from backing up Dirk Nowitzki to probably starting next to Dwight Howard.

Bass agreed to leave Dallas and sign with the Orlando Magic, the Eastern Conference champions announced.

The Magic did not disclose terms of the deal. NBA.com, which first reported the signing, said it was a four-year contract for about $18 million, with an opt-out clause after three years.

Jazz, Okur agree

The Jazz and center Mehmet Okur have agreed on a two-year contract extension that runs through 2012.

Okur is entering the last year of the original deal he signed with Utah as a free agent in 2004. He could have opted out of the final season but decided on the final day to stay with the Jazz.

Stackhouse waived

The Memphis Grizzlies waived Jerry Stackhouse, just a day after acquiring the veteran in a four-team, eight-player trade.

Chris Wallace, general manager and vice president of basketball operations, announced the move Friday after Thursday’s blockbuster deal involving the Grizzlies, Dallas, Orlando and the Toronto Raptors.

Hill stays with Suns

Grant Hill is staying with the Phoenix Suns.

His agent, Lon Babby, said that Hill decided to remain in Phoenix rather than sign with the Boston Celtics or New York Knicks.

Babby said during a conference call that the deal is for two seasons, the second at Hill’s option, and he will be paid $3 million in the first year. Hill has played the last two seasons for the Suns and averaged 12 points in 2008-09 while playing in all 82 games for the first time in his 14-year career.
