Arizona State Coach Todd Graham had a very scary plane ride

Winning the Pac 12 South, or this week’s game at Utah, suddenly didn’t seem so important.

Last Friday, Arizona State Coach Todd Graham and son Bo thought they might die in a plane crash.

A night after defeating Washington State, Graham and his son were the only passengers on a small plane last Friday as they headed to Texas on a recruiting trip.

At 35,000 feet, the plane lost control and started diving.

Graham was just nodding off to sleep when he heard a loud boom.

“I woke up and the pilots were putting on their oxygen masks,” Graham recounted to Doug Haller of Azcentral.com. “The plane started shaking.”

Graham added, “I”m not lying. I thought this might have been it.”

Bo Graham said he couldn’t believe his life was going to end like this.

“I was thinking, ‘Is this really going down? Right here?’” Bo said. “I mean, come on, in the desert of New Mexico? There are a lot of better places to take a fall.”

The plane lost cabin pressure but stabilized at 10,000 feet. The pilots then made an emergency landing in Albuquerque. Graham and his son waited a few hours for another plane and continued their recruiting trip to Dallas.

Todd Graham said he had a hard time dealing with the incident.

“I was trying to watch film but just couldn’t focus,” he said.
