Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting of a man in a Carson mall parking lot Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Deputies responded to the Avalon Boulevard parking lot about 1:55 p.m. after receiving a report of a man with a gun, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Parker said. Reports indicated another man was shot, then got in his car and drove away.

The suspect or suspects got into another vehicle -- believed to be a white BMV -- and also drove off, Parker said.

Parker said there was no apparent threat to the mall.

“No one entered the mall and the mall has not been disrupted,” he said.

Deputies remain on scene and are investigating.

[Updated at 3:20 p.m. PST: Parker said the man shot in the parking lot was located at an area hospital, where he was receiving treatment.]
