Baseball: Kaz Akamatsu pitches, hits Edison to victory

Kaz Akamatsu of Edison did everything but clean off home plate on Saturday in lifting the Chargers to a 3-0 victory over Newport Harbor.
He struck out eight in throwing a two-hit shutout. He also went two for two with an RBI.
In tournament action, Newbury Park fell to Bishop Gorman, 5-0. The Panthers also defeated Vauxhall, 4-0, with Carson Lambert throwing a three-hitter.
Beckman defeated Arlington, 4-3. Willie Lajoie had three hits.
Saugus defeated Western, 3-1. Freshman Brandyn Cruz allowed one run in five innings. Tyler Grissom had three hits. Caden Salkeld added two hits and two RBIs.
Temescal Canyon defeated Citrus Hill, 2-1. Matt Tomazin threw a complete game.
West Ranch defeated Saddleback Valley Christian, 13-0. Austin Hernandez went four for four with two RBIs.
