Baseball: Kennedy finishes unbeaten in Valley Mission League
Showing that it’s ready for the City Section Division I playoffs, Granada Hills Kennedy put the finishing touch on the regular season on Wednesday, knocking off rival San Fernando, 3-1, to complete a sweep this week of the Tigers and finish the Valley Mission League with a 12-0 record.
Felix Rubi, the Golden Cougars’ ace, pitched like one. He allowed four hits, struck out five and walked one. JJ Gonzalez and Alejandro Vasquez each had two hits. Kennedy will learn its playoff seed on Monday.
Narbonne wrapped up the Marine League championship with a 6-5 win over San Pedro. The Gauchos rallied from a 4-0 deficit. Jonathan Zaldivar had a triple and double. Dillon Gray had the game-winning RBI.
In the East Valley League, Verdugo Hills defeated North Hollywood, 9-4. Troy Richards and Marco Toscano had three hits apiece.
