Baseball: Pitcher Gabe Golob is ready to return for Harvard-Westlake

Share

Harvard-Westlake is 15-7 overall and 7-6 in the Mission League. Not bad for a team that still hasn’t used its No. 1 pitcher from last season, Gabe Golob.

Golob is finally healthy after dealing with some elbow issues, and he could make his first appearance of 2016 in relief this week against Crespi.

“Getting him back would sure help us,” Coach Jared Halpert said.

He was 6-2 with a 1.17 ERA as a junior for a 24-6 team.

Sophomore Jesse Bergin (7-1, 1.11 ERA) has become the Wolverines’ ace, but adding Golob to the pitching staff would make the Wolverines very dangerous over their final five league games.

Golob is headed to Navy in the fall. He’s mature and usually throws strikes. He needs to get back into shape in time for the Division 1 playoffs.
