Birmingham has its first state champion in girls’ wrestling

Sophomore Lakiyah Wagoner of Lake Balboa Birmingham won the CIF state championship in the heavyweight division for girls’ wrestling over the weekend in Visalia, and she didn’t just win. She dominated.
“Oh my god, she’s ridiculously strong,” Coach Ignacio Andrade said.
Opponents had all kinds of difficulty trying to get Wagoner off her feet.
“No one can stand up to her,” Andrade said.
