Boys’ basketball: Calabasas-Sylmar opener won’t be lacking in entertainment
The Division II Southern California Regional playoff opener between City Section Division II champion Sylmar and Southern Section Division 2A champion Calabasas on Wednesday night at Calabasas should produce lots of points, though Calabasas Coach Jon Palarz doesn’t want to allow Sylmar Coach Bort Escoto to turn the game into run-and-gun.
“He wants to make it like a summer league game,” Palarz said. “I want to make it like a state tournament game. We’re not a slow-down team by any means, but I don’t think we approach the sonic boom of Sylmar.”
