Boys’ basketball: Damien (10-0) wins La Canada tournament

Damien improved to 10-0 and won the La Canada tournament championship on Saturday night by defeating Bonita, 75-59.

Tournament MVP Cameron Shelton finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

La Canada defeated St. Francis, 50-46, in the third-place game. Joey Walsh had 16 points for St. Francis.

Chino Hills stayed unbeaten with an 87-77 win over Bishop O’Dowd in Las Vegas. Eli Scott had a huge game with 21 points and 19 rebounds. LiAngelo Ball had 22 points and LaMelo Ball 20. BJ Shaw finished with 26 points for Bishop O’Dowd.

Chino Hills will play Eastvale Roosevelt in a semifinal game on Monday. Roosevelt defeated Crossroads, 64-51. Matt Mitchell had 27 points.

Santa Ana Mater Dei defeated Richmond Salesian, 58-46. Justice Sueing had 17 points and Spencer Freedman 15. Mater Dei is 10-0 and will play Bishop Gorman in the semifinals. Bishop Gorman defeated Westchester, 96-53.

No. 1-ranked Sierra Canyon defeated Las Vegas Centennial, 61-52. Marvin Bagley III scored 18 points.

Sheldon defeated Harvard-Westlake, 65-61.

Corona Centennial won the Inland Valley Classic championship game with a 66-51 win over Etiwanda. Gio Nelson scored 20 points.

Saugus defeated SOCES, 101-26. Zach Phipps scored 22 points. Fremont defeated Colorado Highlands Ranch, 57-52. Harvey Carver had 16 points.

Seattle Prep defeated Peninsula, 79-68. Blake Godbold had 26 points.
Village Christian defeated Milken, 70-64. Elijah Scranton scored 22 points.

Oxnard is 9-2 after defeating Utah Logan, 79-48. Brycen Wight was tournament MVP in the Clash on the Coast.

Bishop Montgomery defeated Texas Kingwood, 77-61. Ethan Thompson scored 25 points.

Viewpoint defeated Nipomo, 68-32. Michael Okparaocha and Kian Nader had 16 points each.
