Boys’ basketball: Westlake is gearing up for big season
- Share via
Beware of Westlake High this winter in basketball.
Not only does Coach Rob Bloom have a four-year varsity player at point guard in Isaiah Brooks, but the Warriors have a mix of experience and several promising newcomers to put them ahead of the local competition.
Also back are 6-foot-5 Michael Hayon and much-improved 6-9 Michael Hanshaw. Guard Luis Herrera made 29 three-pointers last season.
The big pickups are 6-2 Nick Brandon, a junior transfer from Royal who was all-league as a sophomore, and 6-1 sophomore Drew Brackens, a transfer from Monroe.
Neighborhood rivals Calabasas and Thousand Oaks also should have strong teams.
