Football: Adam Carr comes to the rescue for Sherman Oaks Notre Dame
- Share via
Quarterbacks have been dropping in the Mission League because of injuries, and things looked bleak for Sherman Oaks Notre Dame last week.
Facing a must-win situation and with its starting quarterback, Cole Klayman, appearing to be lost for the season with a dislocated shoulder, the Knights had to turn to junior Adam Carr, who had been the third-string quarterback.
Carr responded with 284 yards passing and three touchdowns to help the Knights defeat Loyola, 28-21, and keep their Pac-5 Division playoff hopes alive.
“He did great,” Coach Kevin Rooney said.
Carr, a 6-foot-4 transfer from Westlake, was expected to compete with Klayman for the starting job, but he injured his thumb during preseason workouts and had been largely relegated to being a backup in the third-string spot.
Now he’s expected to be the starter the rest of the season for games against Alemany and Bishop Amat.
