Football: Angelus League has one more week of nonleague games

There’s one more week of nonleague games for teams from the Angelus League, and then the real season begins.

Cathedral (4-0), St. Francis (4-0), Salesian (4-1), La Salle (4-1), St. Paul (3-2) and Harvard-Westlake (3-2) figure to have a series of top matchups in the coming weeks.

Cathedral and St. Francis both face severe tests on Friday. The Phantoms have to play an always tough Palos Verdes team. St. Francis faces unbeaten Buena Park.

Cathedral had its bye last week after knocking off Loyola. St. Francis picked up a win over Dorsey. They’re on course for an Oct. 28 showdown at Cathedral.
