Football: CJ Sanders is moving up the Sherman Oaks Notre Dame top player list
- Share via
In 35 seasons as football coach at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, Kevin Rooney has had lots of top players.
The unofficial list to crack includes former or current NFL players Justin Fargas, Travis Johnson, Nick Folk, Kai Forbath and Cary Harris, plus former quarterbacks Garrett Green and Dayne Crist and major leaguer Giancarlo Stanton.
But by the time this season is over, senior receiver CJ Sanders is going to thrust himself into consideration.
Yes, it’s only been three games that Sanders, a transfer from Tennessee, has been able to show what he can do, but what a player he is.
Whether returning punts or kickoffs, catching passes or running with the ball, Sanders can be an electrifying player. He has eight touchdowns in three games.
“He’s very good,” Rooney said.
Of course, the real verdict will come after everyone gets to see what Sanders can accomplish in the Mission League against Gardena Serra, Alemany, Crespi, Loyola, Chaminade and Bishop Amat.
