Football: High school officials to use two-way radios during games
- Share via
The Los Angeles Football Officials Unit is going high-tech.
It has purchased 30 two-way radios with earpieces to allow a select group of crews to experiment using the devices during high school football games this fall, Los Angeles assigner Tony Crittendon said.
He said the technology is used at the collegiate and NFL level by officials to help speed communication and for the administration of games.
The Los Angeles Unit will be one of the first in the state to use the devices. A button must be pushed before someone can speak on the radio, Crittendon said.
“We’re investing in technology,” Crittendon said.
