Football: Kamulali brothers transfer from Chatsworth to Sierra Canyon

The City Section has lost one of its fastest, most promising athletes in Daniel Kamulali, the City 100 meters track and field champion who has transferred from Chatsworth to Sierra Canyon.

Sierra Canyon officials confirmed on Friday that Kamulali and his twin brother, Ronald, both juniors who play football, have enrolled at the school.

Daniel won the 100 meters title in 10.66 seconds last spring as a sophomore.

It’s little surprise that Kamulali left Chatsworth. Last spring, as his profile rose, there were plenty of schools checking to see if he was going to stay. Chatsworth recently changed football coaches for the second time in a matter of months.

It’s unclear whether the brothers will have to sitout the first month of the season. Paperwork is being finalized, according to football Coach Jon Ellinghouse.

Daniel caught 52 passes as a sophomore, averaged 21.8 yards a catch and had 10 touchdowns. He’ll be a big addition to a Sierra Canyon attack that returns quarterback Niko Harris. Ronald is also a talented athlete who has been injured.
