If there’s one team sportswriters love, it’s St. John Bosco.
The Braves have played six games this season, and every game has resulted in a running clock in the fourth quarter, making sportswriters very happy with making their deadlines.
Now the Braves (6-0) are expected to have a tougher time on Friday against Santa Ana Mater Dei (6-0) at Santa Ana Stadium, but the offense has been pretty much unstoppable.
There was 76 points scored against La Mirada, 67 against Norwalk, 66 against Oregon Central Catholic, 55 against Encino Crespi, 56 against New Jersey St. Peter’s Prep and 62 last week against Santa Margarita.
“[Sean] McGrew can go on any play,” Mater Dei Coach Bruce Rollinson said. “And the two wideouts are a big play waiting to happen.”
Something tells me there won’t be a running clock in the fourth quarter on Friday, but I’m still not going to miss this one.
Rollinson matching coaching strategy against Jason Negro; freshman quarterback J.T. Daniels of Mater Dei vs. former Mater Dei QB Quentin Davis; sophomore offensive lineman Tommy Brown trying to block St. John Bosco sophomore standout Sal Spina; Mater Dei receiver Osiris St. Brown going against Cal commit Traveon Beck.
Yes, it’s going to be quite a game. Kickoff is 7 p.m. It will be shown on Fox Sports West’s Prep Zone.
