Football: Stat leaders after five games
There are players already having big seasons five games into the football season.
Orlando Wallace, a senior running back at Cathedral City, leads the state in rushing with 1,149 yards and 18 touchdowns, according to MaxPreps.com.
Quarterback Daniel Prieto of Newbury Park has passed for 1,533 yards and 19 touchdowns, and he ranks only No. 10.
Kyle Sweet of Santa Margarita has 46 receptions for 722 yards and five touchdowns. He’s No. 5 in the state.
D.J. King of Santa Clarita Christian is averaging 15.8 tackles.
Joseph Wicker of Long Beach Poly and Brando Phillips of West Ranch have 11 and 10.5 sacks, respectively.
Andrew Sarceda of La Canada has six interceptions.
