Football: Sylmar wins passing tourney over Hart
Sylmar is moving from City Section Division II to Division I this season in football, but the Spartans appear ready to be competitive.
Led by All-City quarterback Clarence Williams, the Spartans defeated Hart in the championship game of the Crescenta Valley seven on seven passing tournament on Saturday.
Receivers Marcus Gandy and Andrew Simpson and defensive back Malik Martin, all top returnees, made major contributions, Coach John Brazil said.
In the championship game of the Charter Oak tournament, Bishop Amat defeated Upland. Bishop Amat knocked off Loyola in the semifinals and Upland beat Charter Oak.
