Football: The Times’ preseason top 25 rankings

St. John Bosco, coming off a 16-0 season, is ranked No. 1 in The Times’ preseason top 25 football rankings.

Long Beach Poly is No. 2 and Servite No. 3.

St. John Bosco opened its season on Friday night in Hawaii with a 63-14 victory over Honolulu St. Louis. Poly opens its season on Saturday against Crenshaw at Mission Viejo. Servite plays Bishop Gorman, ranked No. 1 in the nation by USA Today, on Friday at Cerritos College.

There are six Trinity League teams in the rankings. Among the teams just missing out for top 25 consideration were Chaparral, San Clemente, Edison, Norco and Valencia.
