Village Christian football Coach Mark Bates decided that sophomore running back Malachi Meeks would get lots of carries last Friday night against Whittier Christian. When time expired, Meeks set school records for most carries (45) and most yards rushing (333).
He also scored five touchdowns in a 44-38 loss.
Asked if Meeks was tired afterward, Bates said, “Yeah, but I gave him the John McKay line, ‘The ball isn’t heavy.’”
Meeks is nearing 1,000 yards rushing on the season.
