Former L.A. University track coach Dick Kampmann dies at 92

Former Los Angeles University track and cross country Coach Dick Kampmann died on Monday at his home in Santa Monica, according to family friend Rich Perelman. He was 92.
Last May, University named its stadium Kampmann Stadium.
Kampmann coached from 1960 to 1985. His teams won three City cross country titles, a City track title and 77 Western League titles.
He influenced hundreds of students as a teacher and coach.
A celebration of Kampmann’s life will take place Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. in the University auditorium.
