Peninsula-Santa Monica feud continues
It appears that the athletic department at Peninsula High School is still fuming about having to forfeit its baseball playoff game last season after being turned in by Santa Monica for violating the no batting practice rule.
Peninsula was scheduled to play Santa Monica in girls’ golf next week. But that match has been canceled. Players from Santa Monica were told by their coach that the baseball forfeit was the reason.
Peninsula Athletic Director Wendell Yoshida said it was a transportation issue that caused the cancellation but also the school has decided not to schedule Santa Monica this season in any nonleague sporting events to prevent any lingering issues or confrontations among fans, players or coaches.
