Softball: Highland’s Rachel Garcia is Gatorade state player of the year

Palmdale Highland pitcher Rachel Garcia, a UCLA signee, has been selected the Gatorade state player of the year in softball.
She has led the 28-2 Bulldogs into the Southern Seciton Division 4 championshp game. She is 26-2 with an 0.21 ERA.
She has 394 strikeouts in 163 innings and allowed 35 hits and 13 walks.
She has thrown 20 shutouts, nine no-hitters and five perfect games. She’s also batting .691 with 20 home runs.
