Ventura St. Bonaventure (0-0) at Corona Centennial (0-0), 7:30 p.m., Friday: Centennial had to decide whether to play Long Beach Poly or St. Bonaventure in a nonleague game. The Huskies picked St. Bonaventure, which has beaten Poly the last two seasons. The Seraphs have veteran players on offense in quarterback Marc Evans and running back Shaun Wick, plus a star in the making at receiver in Jordan Farris. But can their defense slow down the Huskies’ no-huddle attack? New quarterback Hayden Gavett is only 5 feet 9, but he’s smart, elusive and had lots of playing time as Michael Eubank’s backup. The Huskies’ strength is their offensive and defensive lines. The pick: Centennial.

Tesoro (1-0) vs. Santa Margarita (1-0) at Saddleback College, 7 p.m., Friday: A packed stadium will get to see neighbor take on neighbor in this public versus private school showdown. Santa Margarita has a huge offensive line that must be dealt with. Tesoro showed in its opening win that it can run the ball and has a versatile quarterback in Matt Adam. The pick: Santa Margarita.

Carson (1-0) vs. Long Beach Poly (1-0) at Veterans Stadium, 7 p.m., Friday: If this is the year of the receiver, Carson has the best one in Darreus Rogers, who couldn’t be stopped in a victory over Santa Ana Mater Dei, catching 11 passes and scoring three touchdowns. Poly made four turnovers (three interceptions and a fumble) last week but still beat Sacramento Grant, 24-23. Let’s see if the Jackrabbits can clean up their mistakes and cover Rogers. The pick: Poly.

Mission Viejo (1-0) at Don Bosco (New Jersey) (0-0), 4 p.m. PDT, Saturday: Mission Viejo travels to the East Coast to play a team ranked No. 1 in the nation by USA Today. The Diablos will try to rely on their veteran offensive line, along with quarterback Alex Bridgford and running back Jahleel Pinner, in an attempt to pull off the upset. The pick: Don Bosco.
