Clippers’ Caron Butler injured, won’t play against Thunder
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Caron Butler will not play Wednesday night against the Thunder because of a strained right shoulder.
Matt Barnes is set to start at small forward in place of Butler.
Butler was injured during the Clippers’ win, 101-80, over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. He played in the first quarter against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, but was shut down after that.
“It thins us out a little bit and changes the complexion of our bench,” Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro said. “But we’ll work through it.”
The difficult part will be having someone with size off the Clippers’ bench to guard the Thunder’s 6-foot-9 All-Star small forward Kevin Durant when Barnes needs a rest.
