Utah player talks tough ... after losing to UCLA

SALT LAKE CITY -- The buzz about Shabazz Muhammad has certainly reached Utah … though it didn’t seem to produce a lot of reverence.

Muhammad, UCLA’s wunderkind freshman, struggled in the Bruins’ 57-53 victory over Utah on Thursday. He made only three of 13 shots and scored six points, 13 below his average.

That had one Utes player talking tough after losing.

Asked about guarding Muhammad, Utah’s Cedric Martin said, “I didn’t play like a baby. I played him like a grown man. Everybody kept saying he is the No. 1 player in the nation and whatnot and I didn’t let it faze me. I got in his grill, talking, hitting, whatever I had to do to keep him down to the six points he had.”

Let’s see, UCLA won by four points and Muhammad had six. Guess Martin could have done a little better job.
