Update: Chivas is only two games under .500, but it has slipped to seventh in the West and is 11 points behind the Galaxy, Seattle and Vancouver for the final playoff spot. The team’s problem? Offense. Chivas has scored a league-worst 14 goals this season and was shut out for the eighth time this year in a 4-0 loss to the Galaxy on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Rapids have an open-door policy on defense: Their 35 goals allowed makes them the fifth-worst defensive team among the league’s 19 teams.
