Oregon can bask all Sunday morning and afternoon in the latest college football rankings that have the Ducks at No. 1.

Alabama’s home loss to Texas A&M; on Saturday vaulted Oregon to the top of the Associated Press and USA Today polls.

Oregon, however, is likely to sit at No. 2 behind Kansas State when the BCS standings are released Sunday evening.

Oregon’s computer index still lags in the BCS formula that uses two polls and a computer component. The Ducks would probably close the gap if they win out with a closing schedule of Stanford, Oregon State and the Pac 12 title game against either UCLA or USC.

All four schools are ranked this week. Stanford is No. 14 in the AP and Oregon State is 15 while UCLA (17) and USC (21) held their positions from last week.

The AP top five is Oregon, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Alabama and Georgia, followed by Ohio State, Florida, Louisiana State, Texas A&M; and Florida State.

The USA Today coaches’ poll has the same top three with Georgia at No. 4 and Alabama at No. 5.

The No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the final BCS standings Dec. 2 will play for the BCS title in South Florida on Jan. 7.

The potential loser in a three-team fight of undefeated teams is No. 3 Notre Dame, which closes the season with games against Wake Forest and USC.
